Minister Besimi in a donation action for the New Year holidays

"Happiness is very important for a better future and it becomes even more important if it is shared with the closest and the youngest who are the future," said Minister of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia, Fatmir Besimi at yesterday's donation of New Year’s presents and gifts for children from the special needs primary school Idnina and the SOS Children's Village Skopje.

On the occasion of the donations from the Ministry of Defence and the ARM, the children organized performances and workshops in both schools were they drew drawings on the theme of peace, the symbol of the upcoming holidays, Santa Claus, and the Army of Republic of Macedonia.

All the employees from the Ministry of Defence and the members of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia participated in this humanitarian campaign by donating money and clothes. The cadets, from the Military Academy, gave up their regular meals for intended for three days, so as to share and donate their rations with the children from Idnina and SOS Children's Village.

The children from Idnina gave small gifts to the representatives from the MoD and ARM, which they have designed for the New Year’s holidays themselves, thus conveying their best wishes for the New Year.

In the SOS Children's Village, Minister Besimi got acquainted with the purpose and the work of the organization, and he also visited one of the houses that accommodate their wards. Additionally, over the next few days, the directly subordinate commands and units of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia, at the local level, will organize similar activities.

The work of the special needs school Idnina is to enable the children categorized with mild impairments in their psychological development an active participation in the economic and social life and boost curiosity and interest in building healthy lifestyle habits. The SOS Children's Village, whose foundations were laid in April 1999, is an organization that builds families for children at risk and thus helps them to shape their own future.
